Design has become aware of the fragility of the Earth, as Renzo Piano notes, and designers are therefore invited to encourage new, more careful and conscious behaviour and design for a more sustainable world. We initiate research projects and establish new collaborations to experiment with innovative ideas and materials, to create products and stimulate lifestyles that are more ethical and respectful of the planet's precious resources.
For us, the circular economy represents a paradigm of sustainability. It is not an abstract philosophy, but rather a new opportunity for design. This design creates innovative raw materials, optimises processes and produces awareness. It is not a new theory, but rather an old design practice that has been systemised and sophisticated in order to involve everyone, from families to companies, in a new zero-waste logic.
Coffeefrom is the innovative bio-based material created from recycled coffee grounds and a blend of biopolymers, produced in Italy at every stage. A project created in collaboration with the Milan Polytechnic and companies operating in the bioplastic moulding sector. Coffeefrom is a zero-waste material with infinite expressive possibilities.
