Whomade

We are a design studio built at the heart of a close-knit network of professionals dedicated to creating impact and value. Since 2006, we have specialised in providing comprehensive creative solutions for a diverse client base, encompassing individuals, start-ups, companies, institutions and international NGOs. Our expertise lies in overseeing all aspects of creative development, from brand development to product design and experience creation.

Our company specialises in consultancy for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies and cultural and creative industries. We offer expert advice in the fields of design management and art direction, integrated and multi-channel communication, branding strategies, and design and product development.

The studio's team has decades of experience in projects built around the needs of individual clients. At our company, we work across various business scales and levels, leveraging in-house capabilities and integrating them with external expertise to help businesses navigate rapidly changing competitive environments. We apply a combination of creativity and strategy to ensure the success of each project.

Our approach

Value by design

Generating value through strategic thinking requires a comprehensive and robust training programme. This should encompass technical design expertise, advanced mapping, analysis and research skills, as well as methodologies and tools that facilitate genuine innovation across various disciplines.

Our company provides support to businesses, start-ups and organisations in the design and restructuring of products and services. We also assist in the development or re-evaluation of business models, the creation and promotion of corporate identities through strategies and creative actions for both the short term (disruptive innovation) and the long term (incremental change).

We are committed to a culture of innovation and a creative design approach that can deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. These solutions are capable of responding in a complex manner to changing market, social and cultural needs that are constantly evolving and changing.

We believe that these elements, which are often overlooked in the realm of design, can be pivotal in fostering innovation and creating impactful initiatives that are both sustainable and positively impactful on social life and cultural evolution.

Drawing on the logic of a true participatory laboratory, we have cultivated a design culture and practice that investigates the evolution of objects, places and contemporary languages in relation to human and social behaviour. This enables us to identify what makes sense in terms of design, and thus promote a renewed economy of experience.

Founders

EDOARDO PERRI

Creative Director

He is the founder and creative director of the Whomade studio. He graduated in Design at the Politecnico di Milano, where he honed his conceptual skills, and subsequently attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Holland. He has since held courses and taught in various design schools. He has held teaching positions at the following institutions: Design Academy Eindhoven (NL), Universidad del Valle de México (MX), Creative Academy (IT), IUAV (IT), Domus Academy and Accademia NABA in Milan (IT). He currently holds the chair in Design Culture and Product Design at the latter.

In addition to his roles as a designer, teacher and art director, he is a proponent of independent research and projects in the field of new creative industries and innovation in artistic crafts. In 2014, he conceived and directed the Well-made.it project for the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte. Since 2015, he has held the position of chief creative director at the Indian brand ORVI / Innovative Surfaces.

He has a strong interest in materials and the processes and manufacturing techniques related to them. Over the last five years, he has worked on dozens of projects for the circular economy in various roles, experimenting with innovative materials and developing new brands and products under the banner of "value by design".

DARIO RIVA

Strategic Director

He is the founder and strategic director of the Whomade studio. He graduated in Design at the Polytechnic of Milan and, since 2000, has worked in communication and art direction for some of the most well-known and esteemed creative agencies in Milan. Following the completion of a Master in Design Management at the Polytechnic of Turin in 2004, he assumed the role of project manager, overseeing initiatives in branding, retail design and strategic marketing for renowned companies and major brands within the Italian and international markets.

He has held courses and workshops in various locations and academies. He has collaborated with the Universidad del Valle de México (Mexico), Creative Academy (Italy) and Accademia NABA in Milan (Italy), where he currently holds the chair in Design IV of the product design specialisation. In 2014, he conceived and directed the Well-made.it project for the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte. Since 2012, he has been the artistic director of the Segno Artigiano / Valle Camonica project.

As Innovation Manager, he has been officially recognised by the Mise. His role involves overseeing innovation and sustainability aspects of the project, with a focus on creating value through design. He is an avid motorbike enthusiast and world traveller. He is passionate about food and wine and is a highly qualified Fisar Sommelier since 2017.

We build strategic visions that can easily translate into creative and concrete actions for product development, graphic design and branding, artistic direction of brands and projects, coordination of events and exhibitions, training and research.

Drawing on over 15 years of experience in the field of design, it is essential to remain extremely curious and receptive to the emergence of new scenarios, new media, new cultural paradigms.
We are familiar with and utilise the latest manufacturing and digital technologies as well as the forefront of artificial intelligence and robotics. However, we maintain a firm belief in the crucial and creative role of the people who are called upon to manipulate and intelligently transform them to their own use and consumption.
